Have you ever thought of the emotions that just 24 notes can carry? Emotions that can bring even the strongest to tears. Taps is known for being a very heartfelt, solemn bugle call used to signify a closing. The closing could be as simple as the end of the day or as difficult as the closing of a soldier's life.  These are just a few times when you will hear the notes echoing from the bell of the brass instrument. Taps is a tradition used at closing and marking the end.  Sadly, this great tradition is very difficult to honor due to a lack of available players for live performances. However, the tradition of taps does not need to come to an end.

My name is Erin Kress and as a part of my Girl Scout Gold award project I am asking for the help of volunteers to help in giving back to this community and to those who have devoted their life to helping others. This project is designed to get volunteers who play trumpet or bugle to give just a little and help eliminate the growing number of recorded versions of Taps played at multiple funerals and patriotic events. I hope you will truly consider becoming a member of the TAPS Project to help give back to our veterans and servicemen. Please visit the contact portion of this website to sign up and become a part of this project.
